Asher Nowen Priyangga, was born on March 31, 1994, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, U.S.A. Currently living in Jakarta, Capital Region of Indonesia. A musician; bass-guitarist.

BACKGROUND STORY

"He wishes to connect with himself, not the images he's been perceived as."

Asher, an American-Indonesian bassist and founding member of the alternative rock group Highne, was raised as an only child in Long Island, New York, by his American musician father and Indonesian journalist mother. He lived there until the age of ten, when his family moved to Indonesia. Asher’s love for music began early, and he started playing the violin at eight. However, at fifteen, a school band competition and encouragement from friends inspired him to switch to the electric bass, which gradually became his main focus during high school.After graduating, Asher pursued a degree in music at university, where he met a drummer and guitarist, and together they formed a band called Dragstar, later adding a keyboardist and vocalist. The band eventually changed its name to Highne shortly before releasing their first mini-album.A hardworking and determined individual, Asher chased his dream of becoming a professional musician despite facing various challenges along the way. His passion and dedication to music were always supported by his family and friends, who stood by him through his ups and downs. Even when the path became difficult, their encouragement helped him persevere and stay true to his ambitions.While Highne was Asher’s primary focus, he also participated in numerous other musical projects throughout his career. His first project involved composing songs for the progressive rock supergroup Forearm. He worked as a session musician for various bands across different genres, showcasing his versatility with both acoustic and electric bass, as well as other instruments like guitar and drums.In addition to his work with Highne and other bands, Asher made guest appearances on numerous records, collaborated with other artists, and contributed to film soundtracks. After six years, Highne disbanded, but Asher’s passion for music never wavered. He embarked on a solo career, continuing to produce covers, create original music, and engage in a variety of musical projects, with the support of those closest to him always lighting the way.
